Ear Surgery
Scoop ear deformity is the appearance of a person's ears that can be perceived from the outside and far from the head. This condition can be observed in one or both ears, in different degrees and in different types in the society, and although it does not cause any health problems, it can affect the person psychologically. In fact, although it is a deformity that appears as a childhood problem, this operation is also successfully applied in adults. It is ideal to perform this operation before children start school. (It can be done from the age of 5). There are mostly two types of deformities. The first is that the ear fold is not sufficiently formed and the second is that the ear cartilage is larger. In this surgery, the ear fold that does not develop is re-formed and the ear cartilage is reduced, and the ear is given a new shape.
How is The Scoop Ear Aesthetic Performed?
Scoop ear surgery is an operation that can be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia, depending on the age and health status of the person. Although local anesthesia may be preferred in adults, it will be appropriate to perform it under general anesthesia in children. In the procedures performed with local anesthesia, an anesthetic substance is injected around the ear. In a short time, the ear becomes completely numb and pain is not felt throughout the operation. The operation takes approximately 1.5-2 hours. In prominent ear operation, the cartilage tissue of the auricle is opened with a small incision made behind the ear. If the size of the cartilage is larger than it should be, the required amount of cartilage is removed and the auricle is reduced.
